I Am

by Bert Oliva

“I am” is the most powerful phrase in the world. “I am” is who you are. “I am” is your center.

When you state, “I am something,” you are telling yourself and the world who you are. You are claiming a quality and bringing it into your center.

The question is, what are you claiming as who you are? Are you claiming positive qualities? Are you saying, “I am greatness, I am wonderful, I am love”? Or are you saying, “I am a victim, I am sad, I am worthless”?

Remember, our world is made up of energy and it has this amazing ability to give us whatever we ask for. It is a mirror and will reflect back whatever we say we are. Thus, whatever you say you are, the world will give you.

So, stop saying “I am” unconsciously. Start making conscious declarations in this world. Claim the positive qualities that you are. Tell the world and before you know it, the world will give you even more positive things in your life.

Dedication

by Bert Oliva

I dedicate this blog article to my mother, Victoria Oliva – my rock, my role model, and my top supporter. I lost her 3 years ago and I still miss her every single day.

She taught me how to be dedicated – dedicated to my family, my dreams, and to her. The last time I saw her, she was very ill. I was scheduled to go on a business trip to Las Vegas the next day. I didn’t want to leave her, yet she told me to go. She told me that I must stay dedicated to my dreams. She said she was proud of me and would be waiting to see me when I came home.

Unfortunately, she passed while I was gone. However, I know she is still with me. And I have no regrets because I followed her request – I stayed true and dedicated to my dream and goals.

Who and what are you dedicated to? Figure out what you stand for and always make decisions that align with it. When you follow your belief system, regrets are few and far between.

What’s Below the Surface?

by Bert Oliva

Have you ever seen a picture of an iceberg? Only a small fraction of the mammoth structure sticks out of the water. We as human beings are very much like icebergs – what you see on the outside is a miniscule percentage of what is going on inside each of us.

When we make assumptions about someone or a situation, we are making one-sided judgments based solely on the “iceberg” we can see. Because we are not seeing the whole picture, these assumptions are often inaccurate which can lead to confusion, hurt, and upset in our relationships.

Stop assuming and, worse yet, taking action based on those assumptions. Start asking questions to get clarity and see the whole “iceberg” before making a decision you can’t undo. This one extra step makes navigating life so much easier.

Remembering the Good Old Days

by Bert Oliva

Why is it that everyone is always looking back? Most people spend a lot of their time looking back at the “good old days,” when things were “much better.”

There are some great days ahead of you, but you have to believe that. Some of the best days in your life haven’t happened yet. However, if you are too busy looking back and seeing what you left behind, you are going to miss out on what is coming. Most people do.

Look forward. Stop looking back and seeing what you used to do. Look forward and see what is coming and what you are going to do. Because only great things can come to you if you look forward. You do not have time to keep looking back

Reminiscing is a wonderful activity. Just do not allow yourself to get stuck in the past. What you are looking for is right in front of you. Stay focused. Stay on track. And you will succeed.

Chance or Choice?

by Bert Oliva

Is it by chance or by choice that you are where you are? So often we find ourselves thinking that most of life’s circumstances have occurred by chance. We just happen to meet the right person. We just happen to get the job we want. We just happen to get the opportunity we wanted.

None of our lives are by chance. Nearly every single thing that occurs in our lives is due to a choice or a combination of choices that we made at one point or another. If you truly want to be successful, you can not leave your life to chance. You must start making conscious decisions. You have to choose to succeed. You have to choose to make the right choices to get want you want out of your life.

This life you are living is the only one you have, so stop leaving it to chance. Start taking control and making the decisions that you have to make to attract what you want in your life.

As long as you do not give up, you will succeed. It will only be a matter of time. However, it will not be by chance, but by choice that you succeed.

What Do People Really Think About You?

by Bert Oliva

How often do you do things to please other people? How often do you find yourself making choices based on what others will think? It’s time for you to stand on your own two feet. You are talented, innovative, and full of potential. Why are you allowing what other people think to hold you back?

Until you own your choices and decisions—until you fully choose your actions based on your own belief system—you will never achieve the greatness that is inside of you. Stop allowing the judgments of others to weigh you down from your true destiny.

Remember, no matter what you choose to do, people are going to judge you anyways. So stop worrying so much about what others think and start worrying about you what you think. The only person that truly matters when it comes to the actions and decisions in your life is you. Start living your life for you.

A Positive Frame of Mind

by Bert Oliva

How do you start your day? Do you hit the snooze button until you are forced to get out of bed frantically and run around in order to make it to your obligations on time?

Here is a simple tool to start your day off peacefully and set a positive tone for your entire day. Set your alarm for 30 minutes earlier than you have to be up. All you really need is 10 minutes for yourself, but the half hour gives you some leeway so that you do not feel rushed.

Once you are awake and have gotten ready for the day, go sit somewhere in your home or outside and visualize your day. Visualize yourself going through your day: your drive to work, your morning meeting, etc. Envision yourself in each part of your day with a positive state of mind. Feel how good it feels to be content with what you are doing and to have an inner peace, no matter what circumstances occur. Once you finish your visualization, get up and start your day positively.

Visualization is a very powerful, yet often misunderstood, tool. Our brains can not tell the difference between actual events and what we visualize. Thus, when we take time to visualize our day in a positive way, we are setting our brains up to actually look for the positive throughout the day. Give this tool a shot for a week and see if your days do not start getting more positive. And please, send me your results and thoughts on this tool. I love to get feedback.
