RAIN IN MY LIFE

by LJ Polin

Today is day 16 of the BOWAworld Team’s “21 day vlogging challenge.” I had no idea what to talk about. I was out in the back, under our covered grill/spa area. And it started raining. Rather, it started POURING. I’m talking torrential here! That’s Miami July for you…

And it had me thinking, just sitting there in one of our swing chairs staring at the rain… How many experiences have I had in the rain? I can think of a mix between good and bad ones ever since I was little.

When I was really young I would love to run through the rain. For no real reason, but to just enjoy the experience. I would run around with my mouth open trying to drink it. Little did I know of pollution… lol

Playing soccer my whole childhood I would love playing in the rain. Tricks get more fun, running gets trickier and referees would call less slide tackle penalties. Great news for me when I discovered that since I loved to be aggressive on the field(I was defense anyways…).

I grew up watching the Discovery channel, The Crocodile Hunter, and survival shows about nature and animals in the world. I was so captured by it and had so much fun learning about the outdoors that on more than one occasion I would collect rain water in my backyard and purify it in a pot on the stove. It would make me feel like some of the survivalists I would watch on TV. I don’t think my parents ever caught on to why I was making water in the kitchen. 😛

When I got older I experienced kissing in the rain. Amazing experience and way more than fun. I’ll never forget that night. I got pretty sick that week. No doubt it was worth it though. Make sure you try this at least once!

I’ve gotten stuck in the rain as well… sleeping. Some during some fun times. Some… not so much. That’s a story for another day though.

I’ve been in the rain during bonfires and drum circles at the beach, too. That gets interesting… Depending on what stage of the night would usually determine if the activity was wrecked or if it got that much more awesome. Most of the time it just turned into a party in the water(if the temperature was manageable!)

A lot of people take such a frequent and naturally occurring thing for granted. We start to ignore what becomes routine in life. So today think about something simple. Think about the different experiences you have had… in the rain. And if you would like to have some new ones it’s never too late!

As far as I know, the rain won’t stop anytime soon… so why would you? 🙂
