PATRIOTISM

by Eric Munter

I would be remiss if I were to post a blog about something other than patriotism on the anniversary of our country’s independence. Thus I present to you the following …

Patriotism is a strange thing to me. It implies a powerful, awesome and dedicated attachment and devotion to one’s country. But why to just one country on this GREAT planet? Why are we not a unified team fighting for each other as a whole? Why must we separate ourselves based on geographic regions? Does living in a specific place on our treasured blue marble overwhelm the importance for celebrating our existence as a species?

Why can’t we be proud as HUMANS to exist? Why can’t we be “patriotic” about our PLANET? We should be proud as a whole to be THE beings on this third rock from the sun that are at the top of the food chain. But more than that – we are the species that has the supreme power to influence so much over such an immense natural force. Why can’t we unify under this “flag” – the flag of Earth? Why can’t we simply be proud to be human? Be patriotic about our existence as a whole.

I mean not to offend those who have died for the great cause of securing the incredible rights that we here in the United States celebrate today. But I cannot help but look at the greater picture. And one must wonder if the “greater picture” still is small in regard to what still is out there to discover.

BREEDING SUCCESS

by Alexa Oliva

I think that success comes with certain rules after meeting so many successful people in my life and asking questions and truly looking at the formula of success carefully.

Here is what my research tells me:

1) You have to start the day early, this helps you eliminate the tedious stuff without getting sidetracked by the people in your office.
2) You can not threaten inspiration, you have to inspire people with love and honesty.
3) You have to set an example. Saying you’re good doesn’t register in peoples minds, they need proof.
4) You have to have systems in place too support all the efforts made, when things slip through the cracks so does your money.
5) You have to have a good team set up, this might be the hardest thing in the world.
6) You have to stop the excuses for not getting things done. Where are you priorities, yes you have to look good and feel good but it can not be at the top of the food chain to attain the success you want.
7) You have to be passionate about what you are doing. You can’t like it, be okay with it, you have to live, breathe, eat and sleep what you love.

Of course there are many more rules but these stick out to me the most.

These are the attributes that you can find in MOST of the successful people on TV, magazines, heads of corporations, etc.

Good luck to you all that can get these things done.

And give me a call anytime.

Cause everyone should know “money doesn’t sleep.”

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT WRITING

by Eric Munter

My favorite thing about writing is when you first start. You’re greeted by a blank page. A blank canvas. A fresh start. While sometimes scary and daunting, the possibilities are endless. What comes out might be utterly horrible or truly inspired, but in the end it’s yours and yours alone (assuming you aren’t plagiarizing).

When I do write, I prefer to write works of fiction. In a fictional universe, you create all the rules and are not confined to some universal law. If I want to create a world where everyone has a super-human ability I can. When I write, I write for myself and myself alone. I’m not doing it to appeal to a certain market or placate my teacher’s insipid assignments. (Thank God those days are far behind me!) Whoever likes what I wrote likes it, and whoever doesn’t can go and find something more to their liking.

That is what inspires me when I write – having the total creative freedom over each paragraph, sentence, word and character in my work.
